Welcome to the Woonsocket Education Department Parent Information page. We’ve compiled the following information that pertains specifically to parent’s needs to assist you in obtaining answers to questions as well as provide you with the school related services and resources that we offer.   • Bus Routes
    Our current bus routes are posted in the Valley Breeze newspaper and can be accessed via their website at the following web address: http://valleybreeze.com.

    To determine eligibility for busing within the Woonsocket Education district please refer to our Bus Eligibility Information Letter.

    If you have recently changed your address and new transportation services please fill out our Change of Address Form and submit it to your child's school clerk.

  • Parent Calling System
    If your student is enrolled at the Woonsocket High School or one of our Woonsocket Middle Schools and you wish to receive calls when your child is absent or other informational alerts please be sure to provide your most recent phone number to the clerk at your student's respective school in order to be added to our schools automated calling system.

  • Parent Involvement Policy
    The Woonsocket Education Department believes that parents and families are the first and most influential teachers of their children.  For this reason, they must be actively involved in all aspects of the learning process.  Most importantly, parents and families must serve with the schools as role models encouraging a positive attitude about learning.

  • School Lunch
    School lunch menus can be accessed online at the Sodexo Website .  If you have a specific question about our school lunch services feel free to contact Ellen Shalvey at (401) 767-4757.

    If you would like to enroll your student in free or reduced lunch please fill out the Free and Reduced Lunch Application and submit it to Brenda Paquin, Business Office, 108 High Street, Woonsocket, RI  02895

    If you would like to enroll your student for free milk please fill out the Family Application for Free Milk and submit it to Brenda Paquin, Business Office, 108 High Street, Woonsocket, RI  02895

  • School Start and End Times
    Breakfast start time for Bernon, Savoie, Governor Pothier and Citizens’ Elementary Schools begins at 8:25 a.m. for the 2011-2012 school year. School hours for the aforementioned schools for Grades 1 through 5 are 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The morning kindergarten program hours are 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The afternoon kindergarten program hours are 12:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Children must not arrive at school before 8:25 a.m. and should come directly into the schoolyard. These times must be followed carefully for the safety of your children, as there is no supervision before 8:25 a.m.

    Breakfast start time for Fifth, Coleman, Globe, and Harris Elementary Schools begins at 8:55 a.m. for the 2011-2012 school year. School hours for the aforementioned schools for Grades 1 through 5 are 9:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The morning kindergarten program hours are 9:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. The afternoon kindergarten program hours are 12:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Children must not arrive at school before 8:55 a.m. and should come directly into the schoolyard. These times must be followed carefully for the safety of your children, as there is no supervision before 8:55 a.m.

    Breakfast time for the Woonsocket Middle School Students at Hamlet and at Villa Nova will begin at 6:55 a.m. for 2011- 2012. The new school hours for the Woonsocket Middle School at Hamlet and at Villa Nova are 7:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

    Breakfast time for the Woonsocket High School Students will begin at 7:35 a.m. for 2011-2012. School hours for the Woonsocket High School and for the Woonsocket Area Career Technical Center are 8:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

  • Student Registration
    To enroll your child into the next school year please submit the Confidential / Emergency / Registration Form during the open enrollment period.

  • Kindergarten Registration for the 2012-2013 School Year will be held on Thursday, July 19th and 26th (2012) as well as on Thursday, August 2nd, 9th, and 16th (2012) From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at Harris Elementary School, 60 High School Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895.

    If the student being enrolled is living with a relative or a friend then the Affidavit of Living Address (Spanish Version) must also be completed and submitted.

    Please be sure to bring the following information to register your child for school.

    • Birth Certificate
    • Proof of Woonsocket residence (utility bills and/or lease)
    • Immunization Records: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, rubella, measles, mumps, chicken pox, and hepatitis, OR a certificate from a licensed physician stating that the child is not subject to immunization for medical reasons and Physical Exam with height, weight and blood pressure.
    • Proof of lead screening and physical exam with height, weight, blood pressure and vision exam. (* Kindergarten Only)
    • All other academic records (grades, previous schedule, etc.) are needed
    • Social Security No. (if available)
    • Medicaid No. (if available)

    Kindergarten:
    (Child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1st)
